Mrs. Self

Hello, MACS family!  Please allow me to officially introduce myself.  My name is Robin Self.  I’ve been an educator for 17 beautiful years!  Within those 17 years, I have been a teacher, a teacher trainer, an assistant principal, and district English Language Arts and Reading coordinator.  I received my Bachelor’s degree from Sul Ross State University and my Master’s degree from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin.

I am a wife, and mother of four beautiful children.  Our oldest is currently a student and office manager for a cardiologist in Austin. Our second child is a corporal in the Marine Corps.  She is stationed with her husband, a sergeant in the Marine Corps.  Our two youngest also attend Midland Academy Charter School.  Our family enjoys watching movies, camping, fishing, and game night.  When there are quiet moments….I enjoy working on family genealogy (family history), crocheting, and learning how to make soaps and candles.

Parents often ask, “What can I do to help my student at home?”  To this, I have two answers.  One, treat your student’s education as one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of their life - encourage them, interact with them, and support their academic endeavors.  Two - READ.  READ.  READ.  Academic studies have proven time and time again that reading is one of the most important activities any student can do.  Ensure students set aside at least 20 minutes each day to read.

I love MACS!  Our teachers have high expectations for our students.  We value instilling intrinsic motivation and encouraging responsibility.  Our hope is for students to become life-long learners.
