Head Injury
Signs of a Concussion
A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that causes the head and brain to move quickly back and forth. PLEASE NOTE: we will immediately call you for ANY head injury that we believe needs more medical attention.

Severe headache

Increasing drowsiness

Nausea/ Vomiting

Double/ Blurred vision or different sized pupils

Loss of muscle coordination (falling down, walking strangely, or staggering)

Unusual behavior (confusion, breathing irregularly, or dizzy)

Convulsion
-
Bleeding/ Discharge from ears or nose
Please see your medical provider if your child shows any of these symptoms within 24-48 hours OR anytime you have general questions, concerns, or feel it is appropriate. If your student sees a healthcare professional or is symptomatic, please notify the school nurse. Please do not hesitate to contact the school with any questions or concerns.
